Send Outlook Emails Formatted From Word Documents

February 10, 2015

Announcing a new game changing shortcut that has stumbled into my life and has brought complete JOY to my coworkers and I!

Think of all of those countless hours you spend perfectly formatting that Word Document that has been “template-ized” to a capital T.
You then distribute it to your team to have them each in turn use it as an email template only to witness the horror of copy and paste gone wrong.

What happened to your glorious creation?!?! Those aren’t the same size images I had sent originally you think to yourself miserably (…or maybe it’s just me).

Well now there is an extremely nifty shortcut we can to use I’m calling the, “Insert Text As” function to perfectly transfer your formatted word documents into the body of an email.

I mocked up an example word document template that has special font sizes and colors used to create specific distinctions. I also added a <3 cropped images of my sleeping Maltese for formatted imagery examples.

Once your word document is good to go and you want to send it within the body of a email, in Outlook select, “Attach File”. Find and select your word document but DONT PRESS INSERT just yet! Instead, select the small drop-down arrow NEXT to the insert button and then select, “Insert As Text”.

And there you have it! Once you select, “Insert As Text”, you will see your amazing, new, PERFECTLY formatted email staring back at you! Cheers!

Great tip. Beautifully formatted site garnished with a photogenic puppy. In this sans serif, Arial generation, something elegant and simple emerges when a times font is done right.
